The Citizen Hotel

Sacramento, California
196-room hotel, lobby, bar, ballroom, meeting rooms, guestrooms & suites

The lively political scene in California’s capital was the departure point for Sacramento’s first boutique hotel, The Citizen. A moody law library serves as the hotel’s nucleus. Guestrooms are outfitted with vintage political cartoons by legendary cartoonist, Newton Pratt, and historic protest photographs document the ever-evolving local political scene and add a comedic slant to politics.

The lobby begs for Cary Grant or some other nicely suited 1940s icon to dash through and hail a cab to catch the girl before her plane takes off. The place reeks of classic style, back before buildings had to be skyscrapers to be impressive. – San Francisco Chronicle
